This week In Science #15

What I did- This week In Science I did a Marshmallow challenge. In September we did a Marshmallow challenge but we did it again this year to see how well we work in groups such as did we improve, stay the same or get worst. We did to marshmallow challenges. One marshmallow challenge all the groups had to be quiet the only thing you can do was eye language or write on the post note. The second Marshmallow challenge we could talk. I think being quiet was better because when we didn't talk no body couldn't control the project. Then when we talked i guess the group hold in their words so long they couldn't wait to get what they wanted to say out. Also This week in science I did a This year in science video. In that video we had to answer these questions below.
  • Who are you?
  • What do you like to do outside of school?
  • What are your academic interests? (favorite subjects or school activities)
  • How have you grown in science this year?
  • What did you enjoy in science this year?
  • What did you struggle with in science this year?
  • What would you like your teacher to know about you?
What I learned- I learned that
My ability to work in groups has changed over the 3 different that I did the Marshmallow Challenge and it got worst because this time our tower fell. It fell both times. I like working in groups sometimes it depends on what group project we are doing. I think the teacher should let us choose whether we want to work by ourselves or in a group or if we wok in groups choose our own groups.

This week in science # 14

This week in science we did Photosynthesis part-2. In Photosynthesis part-2 we drew in our observation log how photosynthesis takes place. This week in science we did a Marine food Chain. To do the Marine food Chain we got You tube videos and put them in order from producer -> Primary -> Secondary -> Tertiary -> decomposer. This Week in science we also did a Hippo Dilemma and biodiversity. In the Hippo Dilemma and Biodiversity we Read an article on Hippo and Hippo stand for
H-habitat loss I- Introduced species P- pollution P- population growth O- over consumption. W When we finish read the article we wrote the meaning of these words in our own words.

This week in science I learned what HIPPO dilema stands for. I also learned that people's favorite animals become extinct because of HIPPO dilemma.

Marine Food Chain

This Week In Science #13

a) If we were to leave these spider habitat tanks sealed but removed all of the plants, what would happen? And why? Use these terms in your explanation: glucose, photosynthesis, energy, carbon  dioxide, oxygen.

If my group and I were to leave the spider habitat tanks sealed but removed all the plants I think it photosynthesis will startwith the glucose from the plant then the plant releases oxygen to the spider and the spider releasing carbon dioxide.

b) If we were to add five more spiders to your spider habitat tank, what would happen? And why? Use these terms in your explanation: glucose, photosynthesis, energy, carbon dioxide, oxygen.

If my group and I were to add five more spiders to the spider the habitat tank I think that the spiders will eat themselves until they have one more left or the might have babies.

c) If we were not to add fruit flies into your spider habitat tank, what would happen? And why? Use these terms in your explanation: glucose, photosynthesis, energy,  carbon dioxide, oxygen.

If my group were not to add fruit flies into the spider habitat tank the spider might die because it's not gonna have any food to eat.

This week in science # 12

Spider Observation Log
This week In science I did an observation log. In the observation  log we did background research on the cellar spders. Also we wrote inputs and outputsa of cellar spiders. A producer, consumer and decomposer game. In the producer, consumer and decomposer game we put the animals in order from producer -> primary  -> secondary -> tertiary. Also I did a practice regions packet. In the Practice regions packet we answered question that were on the regions. Most of the question were easy because in 8th grade I was in a regions class and we were taught these things to be prepared for high school.

I learned autotroph is self energy, Heterotroph is other energy, commensalism is one organism benefit but the other is not affected. Mutualism Both animals benefit from eachother. Parasites benefit at the expense of the other animal. Also I learned that cellar spider could eat other spiders. Another thing I learned about was energy pyramids, food chains and food webs.

This week in Science 11

What We Did- This week in science we went to Seward Park and collected thing for our Spider Habitat. Also I took pictures of things in Seward Parks Ecosystem. You can see a few of the pictures I took above. Another thing I did this week in science is Write down things we know about Plant cells, Carbon Cycle, Water Cycle, Food Chain Producer, decomposer, ecosystem and Photosynthesis.
What I learned- Spiders might want to eat oranges, leaves dirt and soil. I also learned Carbon cycle is a  series of processes  through carbon atoms. Humans disrupt Carbon cycles. All living things are made of carbon cycle.
